With the gain control around 9-10 o'clock you can get an overdriven tone. When turning the gain between 11-1 o'clock you get a smooth, muff-like fuzz and with the gain all the way up you get a gnarly, gritty, wooly, fuzz that sounds like you are pushing a maxed out Tweed amp.
I used four different and specific transistors to get the sound I wanted including a germanium transistor for vintage grittiness in the fuzz and give lead notes a little tube-like sag.
As with all Stomp Under Foot pedals, the Dirt Preacher is made by hand, using only quality, through-hole components.
