The Victory Boost is an amazing boost. We received a request for a clean boost that had a wide tonal range, based on an EchoPlex's volume boost circuit. The Victory Boost was our answer to that request. The Victory Boost is a JFET based class A boost, featuring three knobs; it converts the voltage internally from 9 volts to 18 volts, using a charge pump. The Character control changes just that--the character of the pedal. It's actually changing the bias point of the JFET transistor in the pedal (it will scratch and hiss as the Character control is moved, but is quiet once set). As the control is increased, gain increases, and the natural compression that occurs in the circuit is also altered. This pedal can be used for subtle, natural compression at some settings, and can push the front end of an amplifier into overdrive and distortion very easily. The tone control has a wide sweep, from thick and dark, to bright and peaky. The volume control can be used to push the front end of an amplifier right over the edge.
